Step 1: Install KU Root CA Certificate
To verify signatures based on KU certificates your computer needs the KU Primary Root CA certificate. If this certificate is not already installed on your computer you or your system administrator can add it using the instructions below. The KU root certificate is also needed for any other use of KU certificates (e.g. email encryption).
You can also view the certificate as text if you want to see detailed information about the certificate.
If you want to make sure that a certificate issued under the KU root is still valid, certificate revocation lists (CRLs) are available for downloading to use with applications that do not check CRLs online.
See the statements under Policy & Practices to determine whether these certificates are appropriate for a specific purpose.
If you communicate with organizations outside of the Lawrence KU campus, you will need to also download and install their respective certificates (more information about communicating with other organizations).
If you are not a System Administrator on your machine, Windows will display a message, but you will be able to continue with the installation process by providing the appropriate response.
Select the type of system on which you will download and install the root certificate:
