How to Use Guest Wireless - Windows :
To use the Guest Wireless service on campus, first power on and log in to the workstation.
Once Windows has loaded, double click on the wireless connection icon. It is in the bottom right corner of the screen, in the taskbar, and it looks like a computer screen that has either green waves coming from it, or has a red “x” beside it.
This will bring up the Wireless Network Connection Status box. Once here, press the View Wireless Networks button.

This will bring up a list of available wireless networks. Select the JAYHAWK connection from the list. If it is shows as Connected, then press the Disconnect button to deactivate it. If it is already disconnected, then move ahead to the next step. You may delete the JAYHAWK listing if you want.

Press the “Change the order of preferred networks” button on the left side to bring up the Wireless Network Connection Properties page.

Hit the Add button to create a new connection. Enter the name “Guest” in the name (SSID) box. Make sure the other settings are as shown, press OK.

The Wireless Network Connection Properties should look similar to this. (there may be other preferred networks in the box, just make sure that the “Guest” is at the top of the list).

Hit OK to return to the list of available wireless networks. Hit the refresh network list button. The Guest network may not show up immediately. You may need to refresh the screen more than once for the order to appear correctly.

Once you are able to select the Guest network as a connection choice, hit the connect button and wait for it to connect.

It is important to note that the computer may not show that you are connected to this network. This box will be your only indication that you are on the network, so wait for it to say you are connected and close itself.
Once it has connected, open a web browser where you will be prompted with a login screen. Use the login information assigned by the departmental technical support staff person to login to the network. The login screen will be similar to the following screen.

Once you are connected, an Authentication box will appear informing you that your login was successful. Please leave this box open until you are ready to end your session. When you are done with the wireless service, please close all programs then click the logout button in this window.
If you need assistance, please contact the departmental technical support person or sponsoring organization who granted your access.
