KU Information Services provides a central web server where campus departments can create a departmental web site. This server hosts all administrative and departmental web sites.

LAN Support Services will provide data storage and backup services to meet departmental data storage needs. This service includes user rights management, remote access, and the ability to share data and collaborate across departments. This service is included with the LAN Support Services Desktop Support Package. It may also be purchased separately.

LAN Support Services provides Microsoft Windows and Sophos antivirus updates, patches for standard applications and security updates to workstations on an ongoing basis. This service is included with the LAN Support Services Desktop Support Package. It may also be purchased separately.

LAN Support Services will maintain and enhance employee productivity by providing standardized, yet personalized desktop configurations which include system utilities and campus services that allow your workstation to perform seamlessly. If problems do occur, LSS will provide troubleshooting and issue resolution on desktop/laptop hardware and software. LSS provides onsite and/or emergency remote desktop support 24x7x365 and acts as your Department Technical Liaison.

The Public Computer Support unit offers basic lab management and support for departmentally owned computer labs. This service includes creation of an image to enable quick restoration of machines, authenticated access if appropriate (users log in to access machines), automatic updates for operating systems and anti-virus programs, and general maintenance.

LAN Support Services provides managed access to printing resources and support for networked printers.

KU campus departments can choose to locate their servers in the Computer Center machine room. Services provided include twenty-four hour system monitoring, maintenance manager services, controlled power and AC environment, a secure facility, backup, restore and offsite vaulting services, and problem management.

LAN Support Services will help plan, deploy, and manage key operationalaspects of your department`s server, operating system software, and network access to a defined scope of business applications. LSS will ensure compliance and integration with required existing and planned technology platforms, and will ensure the physical security and electronic access security of the assets within the hosted environment.

We will work with your existing infrastructure or recommend replacements for your existing firewall infrastructure with advanced technologies that are visible or invisible to the hosts on the network.

Information Technology Security Office (ITSO) offers security assessments for the assets (workstations, servers and other devices) in your department. This assessment includes identifying and documenting risks and vulnerabilities to your assets. This assessment will help your department comply with the stringent security guidelines required in grant environments, and in federal regulations such as HIPAA, FERPA, and GLBA.

The Information Technology Security Office (ITSO) offers security consulting that provides strategies and/or methods for securing the assets in your environment (workstations, servers, and other devices). Security consulting follows an initial security assessment, which is also provided by ITSO.
