The KU Online ID (and associated password) is your key to access many online services at KU including email, Blackboard, Enroll & Pay, Kyou portal, etc.  

Change the password used to access KU Online services (email, Blackboard, Enroll & Pay, Kyou portal, etc.) as well as dial-in accounts. 

Research accounts on a Unix server are available for KU researchers who need access to statistical software and CPU-intensive numerical processing. 

VPN 
VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows access to campus services, such as Outlook or a local file server, from home. KU's VPN service is called KU Anywhere. Only available for faculty (including emeriti), staff, GTAs and GRAs.

Hardware & Software

Download free anti-virus software for home and office computers, get updates, and view alerts. Check with departmental technical support staff prior to installing any software on a university-owned computer. 

Get information about locations, hours open and software installed in public labs across campus. 

Technical support for university owned machines is available through LAN Support Services.

Instructional Support

Learn to put course materials online and use Web-based tools for interaction, assessment, and course management with Blackboard. Only available for faculty, GTAs, and instructors. 

The BudigOne Digital Workspace supports KU faculty and graduate students in the development of digital projects for teaching and research.  

IT provides cable television service to the University community via the campus-wide broadband system. Programming includes educational, informational and entertainment channels and broadcasts. 

Online class rosters are available through Enroll & Pay. Rosters are updated daily and can be viewed and downloaded by the instructor of record. 

Exchange email distribution lists are updated daily for your department or class. 

Enroll & Pay system allows faculty to post grades electronically at the end of each semester.  

IDS helps faculty, GTAs and instructors learn to use instructional technology to create dynamic classroom experiences. One-on-one, workshops, or seminars. 

Reserve a computing lab for instructional purposes. Site provides lab locations, software installed, and online reservation requests. 

Reserve library materials either on-site or online for student access. Articles on electronic reserve can be accessed by students anytime they need them.

Image collections containing tens of thousands of digital images, some derived from local KU collections, some licensed from other providers, and some located at other universities. Most collections use the Luna Insight software which provides searching, image manipulation, export, and presentation capabilities.

Network & Internet

LAN Support Services provides data storage and backup services to meet departmental data storage needs.

The IT Security Office offers firewall management and/or design to assist departments in developing, deploying or managing firewalls.  

ResNet offers continuous Internet access through the KU network. This optional service is available to anyone living in a student housing facility.  

IT provides Internet access for faculty and staff on the Lawrence and Edwards campuses, as well as some off campus locations.

The IT Security Office offers firewall management and/or design to assist departments in developing, deploying or managing firewalls.  

ResNet automatically scans new student computers for viruses and worms and removes them, installs Sophos antivirus, and requires students to complete a KU security awareness quiz. This system also automatically installs security patches and software updates.  

The IT Security Office offers security assessments to help departments identify security risks and vulnerabilities. 

The IT Security Office offers network security consulting to help departments secure their work environment.
