Database Creation

KU Information Technology can develop an database for you, or can create an account that allows you to develop and maintain a database on your own.

If you want to request an account for a hosted Oracle database that you will create and maintain, go to Request an account on an Oracle database.

If you want to request an account for a hosted MySQL database that you will create and maintain, complete the departmental request form.

Who can use this service

Only faculty and staff can request the creation of a database. The request to create a database must be approved by a departmental sponsor who can ensure that the database request is legitimate.

Service Availability

Access to databases, or database accounts, will be available 24 x 7 except during scheduled maintenance periods.

If you plan to create and maintain your own database you need to be trained in the programming language you plan to use.

Cost of Service

To have Information Technology staff develop a database for you, the cost is $40 per hour. Project estimates and consultation are free and available on request. Go to Web Application Development (database/programming) for more information.

There is no charge to request an Oracle or MySQL account that allows you to create and maintain your own database.
