SPSS is modular, tightly integrated, full-featured statistics software for the analytical process - planning, data collecting, data access, data management and preparation, analysis, reporting, and deployment. More information about the software and its capabilities is available on the SPSS.com web site.
Who can use SPSS under our current license agreement?
For use on personally-owned computers, students can purchase or lease the SPSS Student Edition -- a basic version containing only SPSS Base – or the SPSS Graduate Pack -- containing SPSS Base, Advanced Models, and Regression Models -- for a reduced student rate from an SPSS-authorized online retailer. The purchased license lasts for four years and is therefore more cost effective than purchasing an annual license from KU for $75.00.
What versions of SPSS are available?
KU’s new SPSS license agreement allows us to make software and activation codes available for SPSS Base, Advanced Models, and Regression Models--version 15.0 and version 16.0 for Windows and versions 13.0 and 16.0 for Macintosh-- free of charge to current KU employees for use on KU or personally-owned computers.
Users of version 15.0 (Windows) and 13.0 (Macintosh) may either retain their current version or download and install version 16.0.
Version 14.0 for Windows and version 11.0 for Mac will no longer be supported by SPSS as of April 2008. We suggest that you upgrade to a newer version as soon as possible. Installation disks are no longer available for version 14.0 for Windows and version 11.0 for Mac.
Can I use the software at home?
Faculty and other KU employees may use the Base, Advanced Models, and Regression Models software on home computers.
Student use under this agreement is limited to KU-owned computers. How do I get the software?
SPSS licenses are valid from August 1 through July 31 of the following year. Licenses need to be renewed annually.
